Lewis and Clark Library provides curbside service

HELENA -- The Lewis and Clark Library might not be open for library goers to peruse the shelves, but patrons can now order their books online and pick them up at any of the library's locations across Lewis and Clark County.

After patrons place a hold on their items, the library staff will reach out to set up a pick up time between either 11 A.M. and 1 P.M. or 4 P.M. and 6 P.M. Patrons can then arrive and pick up their order in a brown paper bag with their name on it.

Patricia Spencer, public information officer for the library, said in the first week the library began the program, over 100 people have used the curbside service and the library could look into using the service in the future.

"We had over 135 people pick up items last week, we're expecting about the same this week," said Spencer "As far as future outreach, definitely something we're going to keep considering. There are a lot of people who not only were impacted by [COVID-19], but it's been a good reminder. They have other underlying health issues or transportation issues or you name it and how can we best serve them?"
