Windy Wednesday in store for Montana

High Wind Warning along Rocky Mountain Front
Posted

Good afternoon everyone.

We've got a lot to discuss with windy conditions and also the threat of a winter storm making it's way to the Treasure State this weekend.

A High Wind Warning goes into effect Wednesday at 2 a.m. till Thursday evening at 8 p.m. for the Northern and Southern Rocky Mountain Front.

Southwest winds will be blowing 40 to 50 mph with gusts up to 70 mph. Some wind gusts could get close to 85 mph in wind prone areas along the immediate east slopes of the Rocky Mountain Front.

Strong winds could blow down trees and power lines.

Winds could decrease for a little bit Wednesday evening but then increase after midnight Thursday.

The High Wind Watch will go into effect Thursday morning at 6 a.m. and last through the evening until 8 p.m.

Winds could gust up to 60 mph.

Next on our list is a Winter Storm Watch that will go into effect Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. and last through Sunday evening at 6 p.m.

At this time...12 to 24 inches of snow are possible along the Northern and Rocky Mountain Front.

It is likely that many across Central and North Central Montana will be added to this Watch as a low pressure develops in southern Idaho and tracks east through the weekend.
