It has been quite the cold start with Wind Chill Advisories and Wind Chill Warnings in place for most of Central and Eastern Montana.
Frostbite and hypothermia are possible if the right precautions are not taken.
This just means grab some extra layers and cover any exposed skin before heading outdoors.
In areas that experience wind chill values 40-50 degrees below zero, frostbite can occur on exposed skin in as little as 10 min!
Just a quick walk outdoors with the dogs without gloves on could result in frostbite on exposed skin.
Earlier this morning those dangerously low wind chill values were affecting people across the Hi-Line.
A power line was reported down in Havre.
According to Northwest Energy’s website, over 1,000 customers were effected and without power and -more importantly- heat.
Wind Chill Advisories and Wind Chill Warning remain in effect through tomorrow.
