Great Falls animal adoption facilities adjust operations after reopening

and last updated

In accordance with Governor Steve Bullock's phased reopening plan, both the Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center and the City of Great Falls Animal Shelter have adjusted their operations to allow for animal intakes and more public services.

After their "Clear The Center" adoption event cleared out the majority of their cats and dogs, the Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center closed its doors to the public. On Tuesday, the center reopened under new guidelines.

While visitors can enter the center, they must call ahead before doing so as the doors are locked to limit traffic within the building. Those interested in adoption are encouraged to fill out an application before arrival for an expedited process and those with questions regarding animal intakes should contact the center directly at 406-727-7387. Microchipping and licensing are also available.

For pet owners who are struggling to provide for their pet’s food needs, the Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center now has a cat and dog food pantry to help support struggling pet owners.

According to the center’s Facebook page, those eligible for the program are “senior citizens, people with disabilities, low-income families & those who are currently suffering financial hardship”.

Those who meet the description should call or text 406-868-7152, leave a message with your name and phone number, and wait for a volunteer to call back within 24 hours.

The Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center’s new hours are: Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturday’s from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The center is located at 900 25th Avenue NE in Great Falls.

The City of Great Falls Animal Shelter reopened to the public on Monday, after limiting their intakes to those from Animal Control, GFPD, and CCSO. Now the shelter will accept animal intakes from the public as well.

Appointments must be made for other services, like adoptions, viewings, and redemptions and all other visitors are encouraged to call ahead before stopping by, in order to limit the amount of people in the building.

Multiple-animal and multiple animal hobby breeder permits are suspended at this time.

The shelter will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 1010 25th Avenue NE in Great Falls.
