The Holter Museum of Art may be closed to the public, but they’re working hard to bring people together even when everyone is stuck at home.

#Alonetogehter is a new virtual exhibit that features artists, poets, writers, creators and makers working at home and what they’re currently working on.

The virtual exhibition is described as highlighting the importance of art and creativity through isolation and uncertainty.

#Alonetogehter serves a few functions, it showcases and helps artists, helps keep the museum relevant during a difficult time and virtually brings people together, while hopefully helping them feel less alone.

Associate Curator Rosemary Howell says during a time of isolation like this, creating something can have a huge beneficial impact.

“We know here at the Holter that the healing power of art,” said Howell. “It really is a certain mindset that creating can put you in and take you from a really low place to a really high place.”

Anyone that would like to have their art included can submit it to rosemary@holtermuseum.org with a short statement about the work.

The Holter is also doing regular creative challenges on social media to help people’s well being during social distancing.

The Holter Museum of Art, like many nonprofits, can use as much help as possible during this time. More information about how you can support the museum and artists in the community can be found here.
