Easter is often a time that brings families together, but due to COVID-19 concerns many families are staying apart to stay healthy.
Beehive Homes of Helena an Assisted Living Facility hosted an Easter Parade and social distancing egg hunt earlier on Friday so residents could see their families and celebrate Easter, while still social distancing.
People drove by the facility with vehicles decorated with signs, shouted out to loved ones and dropped off gifts that Beehive care workers collected to disinfect.
Activities Director Shelley Walden came up with the idea so residents and families were able to see one another this holiday weekend, while still being safe.
“It’s very vital for them right now to be able to see one another and get some fresh air,” said Walden.
Walden added the feeling of isolation is always a concern for the elderly, but even more so right now.
Beehive has been arranging video calls are window visits, where families talk via phone outside their window, to help combat isolation as much as possible.
