HELENA- A bill that is named after a Lame Deer woman is making its way through the Montana legislature.

House Bill 21 would help establish “Hanna’s Act” in the state of Montana. The act is named after Hanna Harris, who was murdered on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in 2013.

The act would authorize the Department of Justice to assist in the investigation of all missing persons cases.

The department will employ a missing persons specialist, who will provide guidance and support to law enforcement authorities and families.

They will also provide public outreach on missing persons issues and the prevention of child abductions.
