BILLINGS — Last week we brought you the story of Simpson the grey wolf at ZooMontana needing lifesaving surgery.
Simpson is suffering from congenital hydrocephalus, which essentially is too much fluid in the brain that can cause swelling when Simpson gets excited.
Both staff at the zoo and their vets agree that surgery is the best option for Simpson to live a long and healthy life, but it comes with an almost $10,000 price tag and would require the zoo to make about $10,000 worth of improvements to Simpson’s habitat for his recovery.
The good news is, on Thursday ZooMontana announced they have raised just over $25,000 to help with Simpson’s surgery and care.
ZooMontana’s Executive Director Jeff Ewelt expressed his gratitude.
“I am yet again blown away by the incredible generosity of this community and beyond. On behalf is Simpson and all of us at ZooMontana, I say thank you!”
Simpson’s surgery is scheduled for March at Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
