BUTTE — Beginning on Jan. 10, the Butte Food Co-op will be sending out emails about membership.
Community members who sign and make the pledge to become members will let the organizers know just how many people are interested.
"And what we’re trying to do is just make sure that there’s enough interest in our community to move forward with the process," said Regional Director for Headwaters and Butte Local Development Corp Julie Jaksha.
"A lot of folks attended our community meetings and they got to kinda see the timeline of opening the co-op. This is like the major crucial step for us, the next step that we need to take." Jaksha added.
Jaksha hopes that the Co-op will get 250 sign-ups. If they hit their goal of 100 sign-ups, the co-op can then move on to the building phase.
You can sign up to be a member at buttefoodcoop.com, on the Butte Food Co-op Facebook page, as well as through their newsletters.
