BELGRADE — Belgrade High School students are proving you don’t need a whole lot to make a difference and spread a little bit of kindness this holiday season.
The Belgrade High spirit club finished up their first Christmas Card Drop today, dropping off more than 400 Christmas cards and gifts to almost a dozen senior and assisted-living homes in and around Belgrade and Bozeman.
All the cards were collected through a community effort involving different businesses, schools, and of course the students who were looking for new ways to spread joy during a pandemic.
“For this year, we have to do acts of kindness rather than community service, obviously, and so, we wanted to volunteer at the assisted living but we can’t because they're on lockdown. So, we came up with the idea of possibly getting together and writing cards,” said student Alexa Dreyer.
“It’s just crazy how fast it kind of spread and how big it got. It just makes me really happy,” agreed student Jayda Brown.
The students said they really wanted to do something for seniors in homes because they realized how tough this pandemic has been on the residents.
The Spirit Club teamed up with several other clubs at Belgrade High, including the Belgrade National Honor Society, Belgrade GSA, and the Key Club to make the event possible.
