HELENA – Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest officials plan to conduct a 200-400 acre burn starting Thursday.
The burn is north of York in the Favorite Gulch area and could last several days.
According to a news release, smoke from the fire will be visible.
The burn is part of the Beaver Soup Wildlife Enhancement Project. The goal is to improve wildlife habitat and forage in the area.
A burn is also being planned in the Judith Musselshell Ranger District.
The 450-acre burn site is about 10 miles south of Stanford. The goal of that project is to keep trees from encroaching into meadows.
