BUTTE –  Butte Undersheriff George Skuletich confirms police are investigating a knife assault that left three people injured in the parking lot of an Uptown convenience store late Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred about 11:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a convenience store on Montana Street. A man got into a confrontation with two other men outside the store, pulled out a knife and cut two of the men. The male store clerk, who came outside to break up the altercation, was also cut by the man with the knife, according to the undersheriff. All victims were treated at St. James HealthCare for injuries.

Police are still looking for the man with the knife suspected of injuring the three men this morning.

This is a developing story.
