Whitefish firefighters made a rescue Monday and showed the extra caution the public should take during a cold snap around lakes, rivers, and streams.
The Whitefish Fire Department shared a video of crews coming to the rescue of a dog that got into trouble on the ice-choked Whitefish River.
The rescue swimmer manages to work his way to the marooned dog by busting through the ice flow and then lifting the dog to open water where he can swim back to shore.
The Whitefish Fire Department reported the dog was fine.
