(BILLINGS) A 3-year-old boy from Canada is still missing near Roundup after falling into the Musselshell River.

Musselshell County Undersheriff Shawn Lesnik said the boy and a 5-year-old girl were along the edge of the river at around 11:15 a.m. on Monday.

The boy then fell into the water, and he has not yet been found.

Lesnik said weather conditions are very difficult to work with and the ice is up to 6″ thick in some places.

Crews are using chainsaws and drills to breach the ice while cameras are being put into the holes in an effort to locate the young boy.

The search was suspended overnight and resumed on Tuesday.

The group was in town visiting the Kilby Butte Hutterite Colony.

The 5-year-old girl was unharmed.

We will update you with any new information.
