A lot of pulse crop growers from across our region will be making their way to Minot, North Dakota, toward the end of the month for the Northern Pulse Growers Association's 2020 annual convention

NPGA member Brian Gion said, "They're all looking forward to learning more about what's going on, the pulse industry on different issues like this cereal at our media, January 27, 28. We'll be talking about our breeding program that we have going on. Also, disease issues, some insect problems and just some crop rotation issues."

Despite some of the trade challenges faced in 2019 with getting these crops that we raise out here in this region to some of those important international markets, there are still plenty of other opportunities out there for growers.

Gion noted, "Over the years, we've been averaging around a thousand new products with this different type of pea protein in that. So, there's a great opportunity industry. Like I said, the prices are down a little bit, but we're all looking for keeping our heads above water and looking for higher ground and we're plugging away at it."
