One of multiple crashes on Wednesday involved a semi truck flipping on its side on the freeway, causing a traffic jam and a big mess.

At one point, while towing crews worked to flip the truck’s trailer back upright, the trailer burst open under pressure.

The crash happened around noon Wednesday near Exit 305 on I-90.

Montana Highway Patrol says the driver lost control near the exit to 19th Avenue in Bozeman, heading west.

No one else was involved but the truck carrying dry goods was badly damaged.

The driver was heading from Chicago to Washington and was wearing his seatbelt. But MHP says speed was a factor.

“We’re really lucky here," says Trooper Brad Moore, Montana Highway Patrol. "Yeah, we’re really lucky from him wearing a seatbelt, from him not getting injured and then all of the other secondary stuff that could have happened out here, so I’m pretty happy here.”

The driver was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
