Pedestrian hit by train in Silver Bow County

A man died after being hit by a train in Melrose on Friday, October 25, 2024.

He was hit near the railroad's intersection with Trapper Creek Road sometime before 10 a.m.

The adult male was hit by a Union Pacific train; the man's identity has not yet been released.

MTN reporter Meagan Thompson says that responding agencies included Butte-Silver Bow Police, Montana Highway Patrol, Beaverhead County Sheriff's Office, and Madison County Sheriff's Office.

Melrose is about 35 miles south of Butte, and 30 miles north of Dillon.

No other details have been released at this point. We will update you when we get more information.
