BOZEMAN — Starting Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, Gallatin County health officials say the Moderna vaccine against COVID-19 is now being distributed to front-line healthcare workers - and to home health workers and school nurses soon.

300 doses of Moderna were delivered to the Gallatin City-County Health Department with a focus on front-line providers.

100 doses went to Big Sky Medical with distribution to workers started around 2 pm Wednesday.

While 800 doses went to Bozeman Health.

Gallatin County health officer Matt Kelley and officials from Bozeman Health told MTN News that the three goals of this vaccine remain consistent: safety in both those who receive the vaccine and to vaccine storage, getting the vaccine distributed in a timely nature, and transparency.

“I think there wasn’t anybody in the room that didn’t have goosebumps and there might have been a few tears here or there, or at least strong-willed people trying to hold back tears," said Kelley. "I think when you’ve gone through something like we’ve gone through as a community, as a nation, as a world, to be able to see innovation and see those vaccines roll across the threshold was really something pretty special.”

Bozeman Health officials say 1,147 employees received the Pfizer vaccine last week.

Kelley adds that school nurses, county-wide, will start receiving the Moderna vaccine Thursday morning at 10 am at the Willson Building in Bozeman.
