Brush strokes roam through the windows of Downtown Helena, creating social distancing scenes. For Diane, painting is perfect for a time like now.

"It's a great time to be doing art right now because we all need to be able to come out and see something beautiful and wonderful, sharing the experience and be together," says Diane Manning, an artist participating in the Window Art Walk.

Diane and other artists began their painting on Thursday, June 4th, as part of a Window Art Walk hosted by Downtown Helena businesses. This event is to bring light to the community in the midst of the pandemic.

"It's super exciting for me to get the message of 'Let's just create! Let's just make something!' There's something that happens to an artist when that happens, and something happens to the community and the public that see it," says Janelle DeBray, the event organizer.

"I love to paint because it is my passion. You can convey a lot of feelings through paintings and you can create a lot of beauty," says Manning.

The community can see pictures of the paintings posted on the Downtown Helena Facebook page for those who cannot come down and see the art themselves. You may also vote online for your favorite painting for the month of June.

Online voting will start June 10th, 2020 and go until the end of the month.
