Eight educators were recognized on Tuesday October 29 by the Helena Education Foundation (HEF) as the 2019 “Let’s Talk about Great Teachers” honorees.
HEF surprised the educators at their schools with news that they’d been selected for going above and beyond for their students and schools.
The 2019 honorees are: Kayla Ryan, JoAnn Didrikson, Cal Boyle, Bob Tipton, Jeramie Robinson, Jake Warner, Laura Trapp and Melody Wall.
“It’s a surprise and an honor,” said Rossiter Elementary Librarian Laura Trapp. “I love my job no matter what, we have a great time here.”
Lisa Cordingley, HEF executive director, thanked the teachers personally for their dedication, commitment and excellence in improving the lives of Helena Public School students.
“My favorite thing about my job is really to get to be the voice of the community saying thank you. It’s a wonderful way to spend a day,” said Cordingley.
Helena School Superintendent Tyler Ream said he’s so proud to be able to recognize educators that do great work, and only wishes they could do it more often.
“These are incredibly humble folks who would never raise their hand and say they’re great,” said Ream. “To be able to do this in such a public way is fantastic.”
The Teachers will be formally recognized at Great Conversations which is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20, at the Great Northern Conference Center.
