Saturday the Miss Rodeo Montana Pageant ended with a coronation, as Miss Rodeo Montana and Miss Teen Rodeo Montana passed their hats to the new titleholders for 2020.
After 4 days of competition, 2 of the 7 total contestants ascended to the throne to take on their new roles.
Three women vied for the title of miss rodeo Montana while 4 young ladies competed for the teen title.
In the end, two winners were selected: Katie Kraus for Miss Rodeo Montana 2020 and Cody Carson for Miss Teen Rodeo Montana.
Kraus was shocked to receive the crown.
“Honestly, I can’t explain what I’m feeling right now. It’s so overwhelming. It was really surprising there up onstage, but I can’t wait for the year ahead,”
In 2020 Kraus hopes to connect with others and spread awareness of causes close to her heart.
“I can’t wait to meet all the rodeo fans and share my love of animal nutrition and rodeo. I just can’t wait for the experience and what the future holds,” Kraus said.
Teen titleholder Cody Carson was relieved to have wrapped up the week with a victory.
“It’s a great relief to just finally have this over with and this was a good ending to the week, Carson said.
Carson’s looking forward to promoting rodeo in the year ahead.
