United Way of Great Falls says the city ranks among the country’s top 10 percent of givers in similar-sized communities.
According to givingtuesday.org , 2019 has been a record year for charitable giving and United Way of Great Falls president Gary Owen says that Great Falls has exhibited a similar trend.
“We at United Way are part of a national, actually worldwide, system. We’re a local independent but as part of that system we get to see how our donations stack up against other communities in the country. We’re actually in the top 10 percent of markets of our size. So, we’re very proud of that and proud of our community,” Owen said.
Owen says he believes Great Falls’ generosity comes genuinely from their desire to help.
“I think people just really care about our community. they see their neighbors and people in our community who need assistance...we live in the kind of society that people want to help. Here in Great Falls and Montana, people step up to help their neighbors,” Owen said.
