More than 12,000 toys were distributed to kids in the Flathead last years and the Toys for Tots campaign hopes to break that number this holiday season.

Volunteers are working day and night accepting toys from five different locations -- including Main Street in downtown Kalispell.

Toys for Tots also have 82 drop boxes spread out throughout the Flathead Valley.

Volunteers will collect the donations on Friday and more than 40 helpers will sort toys on Saturday morning.

Last year, volunteers were able to give toys to 1,200 children in the Flathead Valley.

Toys for Tots Assistant Coordinator Re Richards says the Toys for Tots campaign embodies the giving spirit of the Flathead Valley.

“It’s seems like everybody in Flathead County is, everywhere I go people say do you need my pickup truck, can I get toys, It’s amazing, so I have volunteers everywhere,” said Richards

Richards added that 97% of every dollar donated gets spent on toys for children in the Flathead Valley.
