BUTTE — Firefighters rescued a young pup that tied up traffic on Harrison Avenue in Butte on Monday morning.

This four-month-old pug caused quite a stir when it was running loose on Harrison Avenue causing traffic to stop.

The dog hid under a car until firefighters pulled it free and turned it over to animal control.

The puppy was reported missing on Christmas Eve by its owners who just arrived in Butte from Texas.

“He's in great shape, he's a young dog and he seems to be OK, we're going to get him to the vet and update some vaccinations for him and get him back to his owner and he'll be all good to go,” said Butte Animal Control Officer J.D. Santifer.

The Chelsea Bailey Animal Shelter said the dog would be reunited with its owners Monday.
