A body found this weekend in the Yellowstone River near Shepherd has been identified as 22-year-old Amelia Brooks of Billings, who has been missing since Oct. 15.
Yellowstone County Sheriff Mike Linder said in a Tuesday news release that no signs of foul play were found during an autopsy.
The cause of death is pending toxicology reports, which could take a few months to complete.
Her body was discovered Saturday morning by a hunter at the Arrow Island fishing access.
Brooks was last seen at a residence on the 800 block of Caroline Street on Oct. 13 in the early evening hours.
She was reported missing to Billings police two days later, and amissing and endangered person advisory was issued on Nov. 4.

On 11-28-20, at approximately 9:20 am, Deputies responded to a report of a deceased body in the Yellowstone River at the Arrow Island fishing access. The body had been discovered by a man who was hunting in the area. Upon arrival, investigating Deputies located a deceased female lying in just a few inches of water in the river. Deputies recovered the female and transported her to the State Forensic Facility in Billings.
An autopsy was conducted today and the decedent was positively Identified as Amelia Rose Brooks, age 22, of Billings. No signs of foul play were found during the autopsy. The cause of death is pending while we await toxicology reports. Toxicology reports are likely a few months out.
According to reports, Amelia had been reported to the Billings Police Dept. as a missing person on October 15, 2020.
No other information at this time.
