Leaders with Lincoln Public Schools have announced they will continue with remote learning into 2021, while some other local schools are set to return to in-person classes.
According to a post on the Lincoln Public Schools website Thursday, the district extended online learning through Jan. 4 because of “rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in Lincoln and the number of close contacts.”
“Your teachers may be in touch with a modified schedule to help make this ordeal the best for everyone involved,” the post said.
The district will still be providing breakfast and lunch for families that need them. More information is available on their website.
In the East Helena School District, Radley Elementary School is going to resume in-person instruction Monday, after two weeks of remote learning. Superintendent Ron Whitmoyer says, at that time, they had two teachers who had tested positive for COVID-19 and several more who were out because they were being tested or had potential symptoms. However, he told MTN Friday that the virus had not spread as much as they had feared.
Montana City School and Clancy School have also been in online learning in recent weeks, but both districts’ websites say they expect to be back in their buildings on Monday.
Helena Public Schools shifted Helena and Capital High Schools to remote instruction last week due to staff shortages. They will return no earlier than Dec. 7.
