HELENA – Bryant Elementary School students got a first peek inside their new school Monday as it was floor signing day.

Students entered the gym grade-by-grade to leave their mark before the gym floor is laid.

Principal Trish Klock said the school is triple the size of their current building and she’s thrilled for the experiences students will have in the new facility.

For the fifth graders who won’t return in the fall, she’s excited they get the chance to be a part of the process.

“Really we wanted to make sure that all of our Bryant kiddos get to experience this new building,” said Klock. “So this is going to be really great for them to be able to walk in one day and say, ‘I signed under the gym floor right here and it’s a piece of my elementary school experience because I was able to sign the gym floor.'”

After leaving their signatures, the students were treated to popsicles by construction workers on their way out.

Principal Klock added they have been packing non-essential items for weeks and will be out of the old building immediately following the last day of school, which is June 6.
