Helena woman who died after being hit by car identified

The Lewis and Clark County coroner has released the name of a woman who died after being hit by a car in Helena Friday night.

Coroner Bryan Backeberg identified the woman as 77-year-old Dixie Hargreaves of Helena. He said it appeared she died of blunt force injuries.

According to the Helena Police Department, at 7:55 Friday night, a 911 call was received of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash at the intersection of McHugh and Roadrunner.

The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to St. Peter Hospital, where she later died.

Assistant Chief of Police Steve Hagen stated in a press release that the victim and two other pedestrians were crossing from McHugh, eastbound at Roadrunner.

The victim was struck by a vehicle that was traveling northbound on McHugh.

The vehicle was driven by a 37-year-old female from Helena.

The intersection was closed for approximately two hours during the investigation.

As of Friday, no citations had been issued and the investigation continued.
