(HELENA) Helena Food Share received a $20,660 donation on Thursday from First Interstate Bank to help fund their KidPack program.

The donation was is part of the bank’s annual Neighbors Feeding Neighbors campaign.

Helena First Interstate Bank Market President Brenden Craig said every First Interstate Bank employee from tellers to administrators donated to the cause this year.

“It’s unfortunate to hear that one in five children are leaving school on a Friday and are hungry over the weekend,” said Craig, “So that was a message to our staff that we really care about and want to help those in need.”

Each week Helena Food Share provides more than 1,100 KidPacks to the Helena area and Executive Director Bruce Day said this donation goes a long way to helping local children.

“The impact of this giving is so important because of the difference it will have on children in our community,” said Day, “Thank you First Interstate Bank for being a leader in the KidPack Challenge and our work to relieve childhood hunger in our community.”

An estimated 1,500 families use Helena Food Share each month.
