Law enforcement and their families came together Monday to celebrate the promotion of several Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

Jason Crum and Robert Kinyon were both promoted to Patrol Sergeant and Kevin Wright was promoted to Patrol Captain.

Former Patrol Captain Brent Colbert will now be the Special Operations Captain.

Among his other duties, Colbert will also oversee the absorption of the coroner’s office and the transition into the new facility at the former Blue Cross Blue Shield building .

“It’ll be an exciting time,” said Colbert. “A lot of changes are coming up, but I know we’ll do a good job.”

At Monday’s ceremony, Sheriff Leo Dutton said each deputy has worked hard to earn their new position and he could not be more proud of their growth and commitment to the badge.

“It is very rewarding to see them take on the new rank. It isn’t just for the pay, it’s for the responsibility and they know that they ultimately work for the citizens and that’s the important part,” said Dutton.

The sheriff’s department said they have began boxing up offices and if everything works out, they hope to move into the new building around Christmas.
