HELENA – Montana’s Department of Transportation is looking for input from Helena residents about the future expansion of one of the city’s busiest roadways.

A billboard went up late last week along Custer Avenue inviting residents to an open house in about two weeks. The open house will be held at Capital High School on November 14th.

It’s a chance for residents to speak with Department of Transportation representatives about the future of Custer Avenue from Montana Avenue to Henderson Street.

The project is in the very early stages and development of a plan will still take several years.

According to Great Falls District Administrator for MDT, Doug Wilmot, they planned three hours on the 14th for people to stop in and share their thoughts when they can.

“Just any time during that time period,” said Wilmot. “And we kind of wanted to do that, give that longer time period. Some people will be able to come earlier and if they don’t get off til five or six they can still stop in and let us know if they have concerns or issues that they’d like us to look at.”

The Custer Avenue Improvements open house is scheduled for Wednesday, November 14th, at Capital High School from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
