HELENA – The East Helena Schools Culture Committee has launched a survey to help narrow down a possible mascot for the new high school.

This is the second round of voting and includes 12 possible mascots.

The choices represent aspects of Montana’s history like vigilantes and mavericks; wildlife like mountain lions, rattlesnakes or wolverines; or landmarks like the Sleeping Giant.

Voters can also share if they think the district should keep its current mascot, the Tiger.

None of the 12 mascots are currently in use by any other Class A schools in Montana.

The mascot with the most votes will be forwarded to the East Helena School Board for consideration.

According to the survey, the school’s colors will be evaluated once mascots have been narrowed.

The district plans to begin enrolling high school students to in the Fall of 2019. East Helena High School students will attend classes at East Helena Middle School until the new high school is complete.

The new high school is expected to be finished for students to begin in the Fall of 2020.
