Pedestrian hit by car on Prospect Avenue

(UPDATE, 2:25 p.m.) The 39-year-old woman who was hit by a car in Helena on Friday night has died.

According to the Helena Police Department, a vehicle was traveling west on Prospect Avenue in the northern most travel lane and the victim was crossing Prospect Avenue from the south side and walking north of Prospect Avenue in the Cooke Street area.

The vehicle collided with the victim, who was a 39-year-old Helena woman. The driver, a 24-year-old Billings resident, called 911 and upon arrival on scene, first responders conducted life-saving measures for the woman.

The woman was transported to St. Peter’s Health and then life-flighted to Benefis Health System in Great Falls for further treatment. The victim died on Saturday morning. Her name has not yet been released.

Helena Police said the investigation is ongoing and no citations or arrests have been made at this point.

HELENA – A pedestrian was taken to St. Peter’s Health after being hit by a car on Friday night.

According to the Helena Police Department, the incident occurred at North Cooke Street and Prospect Avenue just before 9:30 p.m.

Traffic was temporarily blocked on Prospect Avenue near Safeway.

Police were unable to confirm the person’s age, name, or if the pedestrian was a man or woman. As of Friday night, no citations had been issued.
