HELENA – The City of Helena is currently sweeping leaves off city streets in the hardest hit areas of town.

Helena residents can only rake leaves that fall upon the boulevard and adjacent sidewalks into the street.

According to the City, the Street Division does not have the resources to accommodate for a higher volume of debris than that.

All yard leaves will need to be bagged as waste or hauled to the transfer station to be disposed of.

Leaves and other yard waste can be disposed of in the compost yard at the transfer station, which is located straight back from the scales.

All bags must be emptied and debris put in the correctly labeled pile if placed in the compost yard.

If a person has a residential permit, the weight of yard waste that is disposed in the compost yard is deducted from the permit’s annual allowance since it is being diverted from the waste stream.

If people would like to report a complaint to Street Division, they can call 406-447-1566.
