HELENA — UPDATE: 4:10 p.m: The Helena Police Department issued a statement, writing: "On 02/05/2021 at approximately 1353 hours, the Helena Police Department was notified of a bomb threat to Helena High School that was phoned in to the school. Officers, Detectives, and School Resource Officers responded. The Helena Police Department utilized the Montana Highway Patrol bomb detection K9 and the Helena Police Department bomb detection K9 to check the school and surrounding property.
Nothing was located in or near the building and it was released back to the School District."
UPDATE: 3:40 p.m.: Superintendent Tyler Ream told MTN that there was a bomb threat called into the school. He says students are gone for the day, but HPD will be doing a search as a precaution.
Helena High School and the Helena Police Department received a threatening message Friday afternoon. Helena High School has been evacuated while the Police Department investigates.
For those students who ride the bus, the buses are being sent to Florence Crittendon. If you have questions concerning the location of your student, please contact the May Butler building at 406-324-2000.
The school and the Police Department will provide updates as they become available. Please stay out of the area while it is being investigated.
