Great Falls-area students curious about the cosmos could be exploring the night skies through a new view.
One attendee 18 or younger will win a free telescope at the 15th annual "Star Party Extravaganza" on Friday, September 20th, at the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center.
Organizers with the Central Montana Astronomy Society say the telescope giveaway falls in line with one of their biggest goals: opening youths' eyes to the wonders of the universe.
"If we can spur a little bit of imagination, some excitement within kids to get them looking up a the heavens and look at all the wonders that are out there in the universe,” said member Joey Castle. “That’s one of the things we really enjoy and love doing.”
Students must be present at the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center to win.
The Star Extravaganza is free and starts at 6:00 p. m. at the Center, located at 4201 Giant Springs Road. The night will feature fun activities, lectures and movies about astronomy. There will also be telescopes set up for anyone who wants to explore the night sky.
