Police investigating the death of a Malmstrom airman in Great Falls

The man who was found dead in Great Falls early Sunday has been identified as Tristen Allen Carlson.

The Cascade County Sheriff's Office said on Monday that Carlson, 21 years old, was an active-duty airman assigned to Malmstrom Air Force Base.

Sheriff Jesse Slaughter said that Carlson's family has been notified.

There is no official word yet on the cause of death, nor any reports of arrests in connection with his death.

The Great Falls Police Department is continuing to investigate; we will update you as we get more information.



(SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2) The Great Falls Police Department responded to reports of a shooting early Sunday morning.

At around 2:30 a.m., officers found the body of a man at a residence on the 2300 block of 14th Avenue South.

Officers are currently investigating and interviewing people who were at the scene at the time of the reported shooting.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The GFPD stressed that this is an ongoing investigation and police will be in the area, but is confident that there is no threat to the public.

The name of the person who died has not yet been released.
