GREAT FALLS — JJ's Bakery in downtown Great Falls has announced that they will be closing permanently.
In a Facebook post, the owners said, "This was an exceedingly difficult decision made harder by the fact that the Bakery was and is doing very well."
The owners bought the existing restaurant at 112 Central Avenue about 10 years ago, changing the name from Baker Bob's to JJ's Bakery.
They plan to focus on their other restaurant, The Burger Bunker at 24 5th Street South, and say they expand their operations in the space adjoining Burger Bunker that used to be Big Bang Pizza, with a "soup-centered storefront."
“We were just at a point where we wanted to relax a little bit more and spend more time with the kids before they go off to college and just take a step back,” said owner John Williams. “I’m really excited to have the summer off and do some vacationing and that kind of thing.”
The Facebook post said: "We want to first thank our amazing customers that kept us thriving for the last decade. Some of the people we have met and relationships we have built will be cherished forever. Secondly, we would like to send a heartfelt Thank You to the staff that has helped us along the way."
JJ's Bakery will remain open for several more weeks, with the last day scheduled for April 2.
