Great Falls Montana Tourism is accepting proposals to assist with funding for the creation of a new multi-day event to be held in Great Falls on a Thursday – Saturday or Friday - Sunday at any time during the months of September through May.
According to a press release from the organization, the event should take place within 18 months of approval and will take place in Great Falls.
The funds being made available are from local Tourism Business Improvement District Assessments which are generated by overnight stays in Great Falls lodging properties.
The press release notes that Great Falls is home to several noteworthy events already, such as Montana PRCA Circuit Finals Rodeo, Western Art Week, Lewis & Clark Festival, and Montana State Fair.
Great Falls Montana Tourism is looking for more events that will continue to draw overnight visitors to Great Falls.
Rebecca Engum, the director of Great Falls Montana Tourism, said, “A lot of people come with great ideas but we’re looking for the people who can move those ideas into implementation, so feel free to share ideas, but really more importantly feel free to put together a proposal on how to make those ideas a reality for our community.”
Funding is available for new events only and the evaluation committee will be looking for events that fit with Great Falls. Ideas of events include:
• Obstacle Course Challenges
• Races
• Performing Arts
• Heritage Festivals
• Arts Festivals
• Cultural Festivals
• Local Food Festival
• Music Festival
This should not limit ideas, simply provide a start.
New events are events that have not previously been and are not currently being held in Great Falls.
