Students around the world participated on Wednesday in a Christian-themed event known as “See You At The Pole,” including right here in Great Falls.

“We’ve been doing it for as long as I can remember,” said Raina Lindseth, a senior at Foothills Christian Community School in Great Falls.

She’s also the student body president and was in charge of organizing the event.

“We really wanted it relaxed. We wanted it to be a true time of worship,” Lindseth said.

According to the See You At The Pole website , the event began in 1990 as a grassroots movement with ten students praying at their school in Texas.

Twenty years later, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September.

“We wanted this to be a true time for our student body, our teachers, our faculty, as well as invited guests from the community to come together and worship God around our flagpole because it is kind of a rare freedom we get here, to worship God in public, basically in our front yard,” Lindseth said.

Lindseth says it’s not only a day to worship, but it’s a day to let the community know: all are welcomed.

“We are one of the few private schools in Great Falls, Montana and I really think it’s really important for other schools and other people to know that there is a place they can come and worship, even if they don’t attend Foothills,” Lindseth said.
