You’ve only got three days left to give your thoughts on the proposed Great Falls "Wayfinding" plan to make finding your way around easier. It’s a plan for putting up decorative signs throughout the city, guiding people to points of interest. That includes places such as the C.M. Russell Museum and Giant Springs State Park.
The wayfinding plan is designed to help residents and visitors better navigate the city and the surrounding area, and more easily find attractions and services such as museums and exhibits, parking, public restrooms, parks, trails, galleries, the library, city and county offices, and more.
The plan has been in the works since 2012. Assuming public comments don’t create the need for major changes to the plan, they hope to have signs start going up in the Spring.
"This is going to help boost our self esteem because we have so many incredible asetts to offer. I think the community's going to have their eyes opened as to all of the numerous assets,” said Joan Redeen, the community director of the Business Improvement District. “Especially being the military outlet for the state with Malstrom (Air Force Base), we want to be sure that all of the folks down there know their way around town.”

The plan cost just under $70,000. Implementation of the plan is expected to cost at least $80,000. Funding for the program comes from a number of sources, including the Downtown Tax Increment Financing Fund, the Montana Main Street Program, the Downtown Development Partnership, and the Business Improvement District.
