Emergency crews tackle fire in Great Falls

(UPDATE, 1:15 pm) The fire appears to be extinguished, and firefighters are handling hot-spots at this point.

The Great Falls Police Department posted on Facebook: "We are assisting Great Falls Fire Rescue and SPO Henderson is asking for your help...please DO NOT RUN OVER THE FIRE HOSES currently in the area of the scene at 9th Ave S and 9th St. Specifically drivers attempting to enter or exit the area around Arby's drive thru. Henderson has already had to warn several community members. Please use another route to get your roast beef sandwich."

There have been no reports of injuries, and there is no word yet on the possible cause or estimated amount of damage.

(1st Report, 12:40 pm) Emergency crews are at the scene of a reported structure fire in Great Falls.

The fire is in a building on the west side of the 900 block of 9th Street South; smoke can be seen coming from the area of the building occupied by the Benjamin Moore/Hopper & Ro Paint & Design store.

The building also is home to the Popcorn Colonel and Cheers Fitness.


There are no reports of any injuries at this point; the cause of the fire is not yet known.

Drivers should avoid the area if possible as traffic is slowed along 9th Street as emergency crews continue their work.
