The Cascade County treasurer’s office wants to let people know that delays in title work should be expected. The main reasons behind the delays are personnel shortages and COVID-19 related absences.
Treasurer Diane Heikkila told MTN News that, in addition to several job openings in her office, there are also workers out of the office for health reasons, personal reasons, and on vacations that they requested before the start of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Treasurer’s Office is recommending that people mail-in for their renewals or go online to cascadecountymt.gov. There you can access online renewals, 40-day temporaries, and some title work.
If you upload your paperwork online and mail it to the office at 121 4th Street North #1A, Great Falls, MT 59401, you will be able to get a temporary title while Heikkila and her staff work to get the titles processed and sent out.
You can also schedule appointments through the online portal, and the office said that making an appointment online makes it easier for them to more quickly help people who need immediate assistance. Heikkila also added that calling to make an appointment may be difficult, as those appointments are booked up well into the Fall months.
