Lt. Governor Mike Cooney visited the Great Falls Public Library on Tuesday to see its response to the COVID-19 pandemic while still providing essential services.
The library received a $10,000 state Coronavirus Relief Fund grant to create a drive-thru window where the back book drop already exists. The drive-thru would help limit the spread of COVID-19. The library hopes to have the project done by late July, but will need additional funding to have it completed. Library director Susie McIntyre said once the drive-thru window is done, it will serve a lot of purposes even after COVID-19.
“I know when my daughter was little, and I would think, oh, going into the library, it's going to be like an hour because she wants to play with all the fun stuff and look at all the things,” McIntyre said. “And I just really want to pick up my hold so people will be able to drive through without coming all the way. So in the winter, when you don't want to get out of your car and walk in, you can just get much quicker service.”
