Calumet Montana Refining will be conducting its annual river spill response drill this week in coordination with Rapid Response Solutions.
The drill will be conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday (August 11-12).
A news release from Calumet says that the response‐readiness exercise is being conducted to comply with annual refresher training requirements established by the federal Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Transportation's Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.
The drill will include the deployment of containment booms in the Missouri River, so people may become aware of the drill activities.
Calumet says that "safety and environmental stewardship are important to Calumet and that is why we run drills like this."
