Benefis Health System is moving closer to opening a new facility that will focus on providing healthcare for women and children.
It's annual Mayfaire fundraising golf tournament and gala recently raised nearly $500,000 dollars.
The money is to help cover the cost of the hospital’s new women’s and children’s center, which is currently being built near the intersection of 10th Avenue South and 26th Street.
Many of the services the hospital offers for women and children will be in this center instead of being in different buildings. There will also be space for child birth education classes, for medical students to work, and for outdoor therapy for children.
In addition to serving as a medical home for both patients and providers, the three-story, 48,000-square foot facility will serve as an outpatient center for women and children. Each of the building’s three floors will be dedicated to a specific purpose: first floor - basic lab services, screening mammography, and pediatric therapies; second floor - pediatrics; third floor - women’s health.
“Consolidating all that into one center, one building, is truly going to revolutionize the way that women access healthcare in our community and just improve our continuity of care as a whole,” said Kaci Husted, Benefis Communication and Business Development Vice President.
The center is expected to be complete in late 2021.
