Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter posted a video recently asking for the public's help in finding the person or people responsible for recent break-ins and thefts at storage unit facilities.
"A lot of people are not reporting their items stolen. One of the MOs in this case is that people are literally stealing out of one storage unit and placing the items in another storage unit within the same facility,” Slaughter said in the video.
Pawn shops say they work closely with law enforcement agencies to help them with investigations like this.
"We try to be as responsive as possible to requests from the police. We do send an itemized list, every day, in of every item that we've taken in,” said Lui Salina, Capital Pawn general manager.
So far, Slaughter said in the video, some items from the hundreds of storage units broken into across the county have been recovered and some arrests have been made.
The Great Falls Police Department says that if you have had items stolen from a storage unit please call the GFPD to report it. They have property believed to be stolen but have not yet been able to match the items with a victim; call 406-727-7688 (extension 5).
