Havre Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a 28-year-old Serbian man Tuesday on an Amtrak train headed for Chicago.

A press release states the agents encountered the man during a routine transportation check and learned he had entered the United States as a crewman with the Princess Cruise Line in San Francisco. He had failed to return to the vessel, however.

The man was arrested and is being held at the Hill County Detention Facility pending removal from the country, according to the press release.

“This arrest is an excellent example of the diligence displayed on a daily basis by Havre Sector Border Patrol agents,” stated Havre Sector Chief Sean L. McGoffin.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of the nation’s borders at and between official ports of entry.

The Havre Sector is characterized by 456 miles of international border starting along the Montana-North Dakota border to the east and ending at the Continental Divide to the west.

The sector consists of six stations (Plentywood, Scobey, Havre, Malta, St. Mary, and Sweetgrass). The stations are within a 45-minute or less drive to the border.
