(MISSOULA) Katie Marceau of Great Falls admitted to drinking before she led Missoula police on a high-speed chase over the weekend that started near West Riverside and ended near Clearwater Junction on Highway 200.
Marceau, 34 years old, appeared in Missoula Justice Court Monday on several charges, including criminal endangerment, reckless driving and fleeing a peace officer.
Prosecutors allege that law enforcement officers saw Marceau driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse on West Riverside Drive and when Sheriff’s deputies attempted to pull her over because of a cracked windshield, she took off.
Deputies and Montana Highway Patrol troopers then chased her along Highway 200 as her vehicle reached speeds of almost 95 miles per hour while almost striking other vehicles.
Eventually the vehicle was brought to a stop near the Highway 200/Highway 83 intersection by the use of spike strips.
Five people were apprehended from the vehicle, including Marceau’s 16-year-old daughter.
Prosecutors say Marceau attempted to deny being the driver of the vehicle by having her daughter switch seats with her.
Marceau eventually admitted the ruse to police and said that she had been drinking that day. She also admitted using methamphetamine the day before.
Judge Landee Holloway set Marceau’s bail at $10,000 and if she posts bail she would be released to pre-trial supervision.
Marceau also had three outstanding warrants in Cascade County that Holloway also set bond for.
Her next court appearance for her charges in Missoula County is set for December 24.
According to the Montana Department of Corrections, Marceau has a felony conviction for forgery in Cascade County.
