HELENA — COVID Panel Chair Jason Ellsworth announced Wednesday that State Representative Becky Beard has tested positive for COVID-19. Beard authorized the public release of her name and is currently asymptomatic.

Beard got tested Monday and received her positive test result Wednesday morning. She has been participating in the legislative session remotely this week and last participated at the Capitol in-person on Friday.

Beard is not a close contact of Rep. Putnam, who tested positive for the virus on Sunday. Contact tracing is ongoing for Beard’s close contacts.

“I’m to glad to hear that Representative Beard is doing well and wish her the best as she continues to serve her constituents by working remotely,” Ellsworth said.
